History of the Group

Podcast of the History of Letterkenny Music and Drama Group

The Letterkenny Music and Drama Group was formed in 1991 to fill a void of dramatic and theatrical inactivity in the area. There was no theatre in the town and so the group staged all their plays in The Loreto Convent Concert Hall and their musicals in St. Eunan's College Hall. The Convent stage was smaller and more intimate and suited staging plays whereas the College stage was slightly bigger and so more suited for musicals.  All practices for all shows were in The Loreto Convent. We owe a great dept of thanks to those two institutions for making their premises available to us over the years to stage our shows.

Since October 1999 we have been staging all our shows in An Grianán Theatre. An Grianán is  one of the best equipped theatres in the country and has the second largest theatre stage in the country.

We still have to hold all our practices in Loreto Convent.
